About Us and this Project
After much effort attempting to create a book and accompanying DVD for teachers and students on the topic of deadly medicine, I revised my USHMM Advanced Funding Teacher Fellow project by creating this website with the assistance of my daughter Jennifer. I focused on bringing information about the medical aspect of the Holocaust and the American eugenics programs, in particular the North Carolina program, to high school teachers who specialize in teaching medical courses to students whose future careers are in the health fields. I wanted to bring the facts of the Holocaust into classrooms, other than history and English, and give those non-Holocaust teachers a resource with lots of good information.
As Jennifer earned a communications degree with a concentration in film, she focused on helping me set up the site to be user-friendly and technologically relevant. Without her involvement and clever thinking, I would still be struggling. I am indebted to her patience, knowledge, and willingness to help me with this project. Our local Starbucks will defnitely miss our frequent meetings.
Although I have retired after a thirty-five year career in the public school classroom, I am working as a Co-Director for Teacher Workshops for the NC Council on the Holocaust. It is my desire is to be a part of the idea that we should, "Always Remember" the lives of those lost in the Holocaust and honor those who survived. I am grateful and recommitted to be able to continue this work through a different lens. KKlaich, June 2015
